LOS ANGELES - Attoneys for Grammy-winning singer Mariah Carey filed on Wednesday with the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board (TTAB) against Mary Carey’s attempt to trademark her own name.
Mariah Carey claims that Mary Carey’s name is so similar in terms of sound, appearance and commercial impression, that the public is likely to mistakenly associate the goods offered by Mary Carey with Mariah Carey’s goods and services.
What a pile of crap. Mary Carey started using her stage name in 2002 and ran for California governor against Arnold Schwarzenegger using that name. What moron living in a cave didn't hear of that?
The legal process officially begins now; Mary Carey and her attorneys have forty days from Dec. 27 in which to file a reply with the TTAB. Mary Carey, having recently left her contract with Legend Video, said she will be meeting with her attorney, to discuss the opposition process and procedures. You can read more about this
