ST. GEORGE, Utah - A woman arrested last month for allegedly selling adult materials out of the back of her Earrings and More store has pitted privacy rights against set public standards.
As reported by The Spectrum, after a search warrant was issued for Susan Russell’s store, officers with the St. George Police Department found "many pornographic DVDs, VHS videos, magazines, sex toys, and material that were being distributed from that store," according to police reports.
Russell was charged with 15 counts of third-degree felony distribution of pornographic material.
One must surely wonder... Did it not occur to anyone that it was locals buying this stuff? So much for set public standards. One would think that in a free country buyers and sellers could conduct business transactions involving legal materials without this kind of hassle. But no, there's always some double standard bearing puritanical bs cropping up.
The case is being prosecuted by the County Attorney, and if Russell's case goes in front of a jury, prosecuting attorney Ryan Shaum told The Spectrum that the issue could be a muddy one. No shit Sherlock...
