CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Bitch / singer Mariah Carey is trying to put a stop to adult starlet Mary Carey's attempt to trademark her own name.
According to Carey, Mariah’s lawyers argued in an opposition letter that since Mary Carey's films might include music, "Confusion between your client and her Mary Carey trademark and our client Mariah Carey trademark is therefore likely.
In her attempt to block the trademark, Mariah Carey is seeking to prevent Mary Carey from using her name on any "motion picture films featuring adult entertainment; a series of prerecorded video cassettes, DVDs, multimedia software recorded on CD-ROM and interactive multimedia computer programs featuring adult audio and visual dramatic performances."
The PornStar (whose birth name is Mary) points out that she has been using the name since she started in porn more than four years ago. Mary added that she has already made a name for herself in the adult film industry, and is not worried about her fans confusing her with Mariah.
